‘Tzadik/East Village Jewish Music Festival’

Rabbi Greg Wall, the saxophonist and co-leader of Hasidic New Wave with Frank London, has transformed this downtown nerve center of progressive Judaism into an equally cooking music exploratorium. This five-band Xmas spectacular, co-sponsored by John Zorn’s rad-Jew label Tzadik, includes sax man Paul Shapiro’s klezmer-bopping Midnight Minyan, guitarist Yoshie Fruchter’s Naked City-inspired Pitom, Jewish power trio Rashanim, and the scene-encompassing Ayn Sof Arkestra and Bigger Band (also led by Wall and London), and of course Hasidic New Wave itself.
