Before Sharon Jones rightly led a new class to get on the goodfoot, she was singing backup for vintage soul singer Lee Fields. The revival has blessedly unearthed Fields’s sensual stylings, popularized in a few rare singles self-released in the 70s, in his second full-length, My World. Live in a three piece suit and a shellacked pompadour, he’s a fierce and electrifying performer who’s a little bit Marvin and a lot R. Kells, delivering tracks and truths straight from the gut-bucket.
