Team Coco can breathe easier now that the Ginger King is riffing nightly on TBS, but we were all a little sad to learn that his longtime bandleader, Max Weinberg, didn’t join the journey to basic cable. The genial drummer, who also sits with Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, was rumored to need extended recovery time after a February heart surgery; this summer, he formed the Max Weinberg Big Band, a 15-piece swing ensemble that covers the standards of Count Basie, Maynard Ferguson, Frank Sinatra, and more, and they debuted in June at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, New Jersey.
