Whither Germany?

Although lacking in satiric humor, Kuhle Wampe (Whither Germany), written by Bertolt Brecht is the most Brechtian of the playwright’s several film projects. In its noninflected way, this didactic account of unemployment in Weimar Berlin anticipates the Godard films of the late ‘60s.
