‘Ari Up Punky Reggae Birthday Party’

Singer Ari Up was 14 years old when she cofounded the all-female punk band the Slits in 1976. By the time of her death this past October (from cancer), she’d left an immeasurable impact on countless punk, post-punk, new-wave, and ska bands. Tonight, her peers will pay their tribute to her at this party for what would have been her 49th birthday. Artists scheduled to appear include current and former members of the Slits, Neneh Cherry, members of PiL, the Slackers, Beefheart’s band, and many, many more.
