Elaine Kaufman Bequeaths Elaine’s to Her Manager

A month after the death of Elaine Kaufman, the eponymous restaurant she ran for 47 years has officially been passed on to her longtime manager, Diane Becker. Per The New York Times, Kaufman left the restaurant and two five-story buildings to Becker, who has worked at Elaine’s for 26 years. Becker will reportedly keep the restaurant open and not change a thing, though she is selling Kaufman’s apartment to pay off bequests and state taxes on the estate, and may be forced to sell off some of the impressive art collection it houses, too.
