This week marked the self-declared SOS Week for Pat’s Papers, the Internet site of NY1 anchor Pat Kiernan, upon which he collects his trademark “smartly selected” array of each day’s headlines. We’re fans of Pat (we read his Papers regularly) and, as such, really hope his site survives. We checked in with him to see how the efforts to save it were going. The good news: He’s not pulling the plug yet.
He had this to say, by email:
I’m going to take a couple of weeks to make a decision.
The most promising thing is that some potential new ad and content sharing opportunities were brought to my attention. So it will take several days to explore those.
Reader response was excellent. We doubled the number of people on our email subscription list.
None of these developments on its own is enough to erase the monthly losses on the site. But every bit helps so I’m hopeful.
So are we. Keep reading, and get in touch with Kiernan if you have any ideas or proposals (or need a flying reporter). Truthfully, our lives would be a little emptier without Pat’s Papers. The man showed us how to open a bottle of wine with a shoe, for goodness sake.
