David Murray Big Band

In a word? Effusive. Ever since the early ’80s, when the tenor player exploded his octet into a large ensemble, he’s green-lit plenty of exclamation. Shouts peal out of the brass section, wails rocket from the reeds, lines cross in mid-air, rhythms boil over. It’s been awhile since Murray has hit town with a stage this full of accomplices, and it’s pretty much guaranteed that even the mellow moments will have some hubbub attached.
