Marcy Playground

Y’all smell sex and what? Though some might write off New York alternative band Marcy Playground as a ’97 novelty act, their druggy brand of folk psychedelia hit the right note before the synths set in. Now they’re touring on the strength of remixes from their 2009 comeback Leaving Wonderland. Among their secret gems, listen for the countrified “Blackbird” and bouncy pop “Star Baby,” adored by Lady Gaga to the confusion of Youtube commentators everywhere. Tonight, they’ll bring the sugar, if not the sex. With Blackbells and Home by Hovercraft.
