Olafur Arnalds

Icelandic soundscaper Ólafur Arnalds is the most blisscentric of the nu-indie composer school, walking some misty-eyed line between art-pop, ambient, post-rock, spiraling sweeps of strings, and stacks of sheet music. Next to his contemporaries–Jóhann Jóhannsson, Max Richter, Hauschka–he is the quickest to lull around dreamily in somnabulent bliss, and the first to try to hit those Mogwai post-rock peaks. Romantic intellectuals, get your early Valentine.
