My Weirdest Piece Of Press Ever

Surely you read about the Portuguese gossip columnist who was recently killed and castrated by a psycho 20-year-old at the Intercontintal Hotel.

Well, in a New York Observer piece about this tragedy, the older man, Carlos Castro, is identified as a Portuguese version of me!

Says the article, Castro was “known for his gay activism and flamboyant public escapades” and they add, “One journalist callled him Portugal’s Michael Musto“.

Gee, I’m thrilled, I guess–though I’m not 65 and I don’t plan on being killed and castrated by a psycho 20-year-old at the Intercontinental Hotel!

(There are so many fancier places.)

But I’ll relax. Though one journalist is quoted in the article as saying that Castro wasn’t really respected, someone else weighs in that “Everyone wanted to be friends with him…He was kind of influential.”

Hey, I’m getting more and more flattered about this.
