The nimble local new-music ensemble Signal performs a pair of relatively recent works by brilliant Bang on a Can co-founder Wolfe for this edition of the Miller’s Composer Portrait series. Inspired by the popular British ballad of the same name, Wolfe’s Cruel Sister for string orchestra explores the psyche behind sororicide. Fuel, a multimedia collaboration with filmmaker Bill Morrison, focuses on the shipping industry to capture the caterwaul of commerce.
