There’s a great mesh in styles when Dave Liebman, Joe Lovano, and Ravi Coltrane unite. These hornmeisters build a confluence of sound that allows for individuality, yet the participants are firmly linked. The highly-charged solo switch-offs render something sentimental, too; thoughts go back to the Jazz at the Philharmonic days, when the stage was shoulder-to-shoulder with hard-honking heroes. Watch out for drummer Billy Hart’s perpetual kick: he’s a fire starter.
