Welcome to The Best Thing I Ate Yesterday, where we endeavor to remember the very best thing we stuffed down our gullets over the past 24 hours. Why? Because the only thing better than enjoying a meal is wallowing in the memory of one savored in the recent past.
Today’s fond reminiscences …
Victoria Bekiempis: Tutta verde slice of pizza, from Viva Herbal Pizzeria (179 Second Avenue, 212-420-8801).
Rebecca Marx: Poached eggs and curried lentils at the Breslin (20 West 29th Street, 212-679-1939).
Chantal Martineau: Sweet potato gnocchi in a maple brown butter and sage sauce, made at home (adapted, I’m ashamed to say, from an old Giada recipe).
Robert Sietsema: Sautéed skate served with a beef marrow bone at Fedora (239 West 4th Street, 646-449-9336).
Lauren Shockey: Pasta with white Bolognese at home, adapted from an Amanda Hesser New York Times recipe.
