Although his fate on Top Chef has yet to be determined, Angelo Sosa now has a new job in the non-televised world.
Diner’s Journal reports that Sosa is opening Social Eatz, a 70-seat casual restaurant at 232 East 53rd Street. Aside from a dopey “z,” the place will offer tacos, sandwiches, and burgers with flavors predominately influenced by Asian cuisines: Think burgers with kimchi and kung pao chicken sandwiches.
Sosa, of course, tried his luck with sandwiches before at Xie Xie, which he opened with great fanfare in July 2009 and then closed a little more than a year later. This time, he’s got the backing of Circle Hospitality and Chace, the latter of which is also opening the Ember Room with Todd English and Ian Chalermkittichai.
