According to a new survey undertaken by Match.com, single Americans might be a bit different than they used to be! Particularly with regard to how they date. In brief, men want love, and sometimes even marriage and kids. Women, however, want freedom. In other news, one-night stands aren’t so bad after all, and might even make for a long-term relationship, if that’s what you’re after! This is all great, right?
Important information uncovered in the research revealed that men were also more likely to have experienced love at first sight (or to admit to it). How romantic! Meanwhile, women wanted their own personal space, their own interests and hobbies, and time to hang out with the girls, men be damned.
So while it seems men have become more “empowered” to acknowledge that they want marriage and kids, women are more “empowered” to acknowledge that they want to be “empowered.”
Sherri Langburt, founder of SingleEdition.com, told USA Today:
“Men are writing us more about the emotional relationships than women. Women are writing us about the one-night stands,” Langburt says. “Women are (asking) if it’s OK — ‘Can I have a one-night stand?’ Men are writing, ‘I’m single and I’m lonely and want to find love and can’t admit it to anyone.’ “
Aw. True, or just the guys who will respond to a Match.com survey? Also, men: “I’m single and I’m lonely” is not going to win you any women; take it from those of us who know.
