While some may say that its cheap chocolate isn’t as good as our cheap chocolate, Britain certainly has the edge where the names of its cheap chocolate are concerned. Who wouldn’t want to buy something called a Percy Pig, Curly Wurly, or Aero? Or a Malteaser, or a Crunchie?
The London Candy Company is betting that New York will: Per City Biz Real Estate, the U.K.-based company has just leased a 1,100-square-foot storefront at Lexington Avenue and East 94th Street. It will sell both British confectionery and — no, really? — cupcakes. No word yet on when it will open, but dentists across the Upper East Side are no doubt rubbing their hands together in gleeful anticipation.
