Okay, so Julia Stiles wasn’t following us around, but she did attend both shows looking quite stunning. At Tracey Reese, she wore a blue silk/lace dress, her hair swooped to the side; she would have fit right in with the models walking the runway. Although Fashion Week isn’t over yet, we’re going out on a limb and saying this line is our favorite. A close second is Monique Lhuillier, who showcased a seductive line full of animal prints and tons of lace. Basically, it was a lot of hotness for one day.
A theme we’re noticing this season is the use of long pleated skirts and silk dresses. But what was truly outstanding was Reese’s ability to combine this retro look with beautiful patterns, exquisite colors, furs, and leather. We were blown away by how much variety there was in this show. Each piece had its own vibe, from business wear to attire for a casual night out, work, or a night out on the town. And although the show ranged in styles and cuts, it was truly a cohesive line.
If you’re in the mood for something a little more lavish, red-carpet queen Monique Lhuillier is the one for you. That’s where we saw Stiles again — this time in a maroon silk dress (perhaps we were doing the stalking). The entire collection screamed sex, but with class, of course. The dresses seduced with confidence. The gowns — in black, nude, navy, and, our favorite, red — were exquisite; even the fringe frocks were beautiful. We can see why Hollywood starlets flock to Lhuillier’s line.
