Week in Review: Arcade Fire Won A Grammy And All We Got Was This BMX Bicycle Helmet-Cam

And so it came to pass that a sleepy 2011 all of a sudden woke up and went crazy, as Arcade Fire won a Grammy, spawning a thousand think pieces (or two, anyway). Then Odd Future played Santos Party House! And Fallon! Many people said the word “swag.” But just as the internet truly began to chant “Fuck Steve Harvey” in earnest, Radiohead intervened, and put out a new whole record called The King of Limbs. So discombobulated was Twitter at that point that the sun came out and we all became warm again for the first time in six months.

Meanwhile, our Camille Dodero was off invading houses and taking photographs. Here is the enormous place Sherlock’s Daughter lives in. And here is where Genesis Breyer P-Orridge lays his/her head.

Questlove told us what it felt like to win three Grammys. Malice of the Clipse talked about how he feels about his brother Pusha T getting signed by Kanye. Kings Go Forth frontman Black Wolf confessed he’s been getting groped in the moshpit a lot lately. And Dirty South Joe and Flufftronix filled us in on their new dubstep-based, pop-friendly mixtape, Luvstep 2.

Les Savy Fav played Bowery, Vanessa Paradis charmed tourists at Town Hall, Win Win riled up Norweigans at Santos, DJ Sabo warmed up Bembe, Wild Nothing did their Valentine’s Day thing at Bowery, Baths and Braids got sick at the Knitting Factory, and we sent unfortunate writers to the weirdly similar happenings that were Never Say Never‘s opening night and the Panda Bear listening party.

Plus another rock-critic pop quiz, our five favorite young New York rappers, a killer new song from Obits, Tom Breihan’s brilliant American Idol scribing, Bonnaroo 2011, the return of the Strokes, and more. A guide to your weekend in nightlife is here. Use it well. We’re back on Tuesday.
