Have to love when the crowd erupts as the song kicks into overdrive.
You may have seen the LCD Soundsystem “Dance Yrself Clean” Muppets video floating around today (that’s it above) and wondered, “Hmm, what other bands have had their songs Muppetized?” First, that’s probably not a word. Second, we wondered the same thing and set out to find the best videos featuring Jim Henson’s plushy puppets. Some of these are official videos, some are just fan-made tributes, but all them are excellent:
10. Radiohead’s “Creep” as sung by Kermit the Frog
This acoustic rendition of Radiohead’s first big hit is ALMOST more ridiculous than all the Thom Yorke dancing videos popping up right now. Hearing the voice of Kermit (or a very good imitator) sing, “You’re so fucking special” is worth the price of admission.
9. Katy Perry’s “Hot N Cold” featuring Elmo
Aside from all the “controversy” over her cleavage, this video shines because of Elmo’s singing ability, which may just top Mrs. Brand’s.
8. Weezer’s “Keep Fishin'”
The best part of this video happens right at the start, when Gonzo says that Weezer is “an act people actually wanted to see.” Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
7. Saves the Day’s “Freakish”
While this video doesn’t feature legitimate “Muppets,” it makes the cut simply for the slow-motion dance scene at 2:02.
6. Peaches’ “Fuck The Pain Away”
Animal on the cymbals. ‘Nuff said. Also, it’s fun to imagine Miss Piggy singing, “Sucking on my titties.” I just ruined your childhood. You’re welcome.
5. Kanye West’s “Gold Digger”
We’re getting into the ridiculous now. This fan-made mash-up works so well due to the relationship between Miss Piggy and Kermit.
4. Cee Lo Green’s “The Song Otherwise Known As Forget You” featuring Gwyneth Paltrow
The highlight? Finding out Cee Lo is a real-life Muppet.
3. LCD Soundsystem’s “New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down”
The puppeteer’s big reveal doubles as the first time you realize that this is an official music video. Gonna miss ya, JM.
2. Escort’s “All Through The Night”
Few things are funnier than the line “If you wanna sex me, give it up” as portrayed by the Muppets.
1. Talking Heads’ “Once in a Lifetime” as sung by Kermit The Frog
So much to love here, so let’s just focus on Kermit’s David Byrne-inspired white suit. Rock it, green dude.
