Kyochon to Host a Chicken Wing Eating Contest

The heyday of Korean fried chicken might be over, but one can never really have too much KFC in one’s life. Which is a good thing, since Korean chain Kyochon is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its Koreatown flagship location with a chicken-wing-eating contest.

The event, which will be held on March 13 at 3 p.m., is open to the general public and is free to enter for the first 20 participants. The competition will be divided into five rounds and will be a combination of speed and spice tolerance, since both the sweet and hot wings will be served. The contestant who eats the most wings by weight in each three-minute round will compete in the final two-minute bout for the title of King Kyochon (plus a $250 gift card). Two runners-up will get a $100 and $50 gift card, respectively. Information about how to enter can be found on Kyochon’s Facebook page.

And for those who can’t stomach shoving fried food into one’s mouth at a mile a minute, the chain will also be offering a buy-one, get-one-free special on all wings and side dishes from March 6 to 13.
