Tomorrow is National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. In observance, the Department of Health has released a graphic about the 31,663 women
living with the disease in New York City.
The image is part of the NYC Knows campaign to get every New Yorker tested. According
to the city, 90 percent of female New Yorkers diagnosed with HIV/AIDS in 2009 were black or Latina. Women have grown increasingly likely to become infected not from IV drug use but from unprotected sex with a man.
