Although Jason Denton is likely busy working on a menu to serve to the hungry masses of Williamsburg, he’s planning an addition to ‘ino’s lineup as well.
Beginning on March 15, Denton’s wee Bedford Street panini bar is holding a contest for members of the general public to design a sandwich for its menu. The winner will earn a place on the restaurant’s menu for one month, and its inventor will be additionally rewarded with wine and bragging rights.
Until April 15, recipes can be submitted via ‘ino’s Twitter and Facebook pages. The sandwich must be Italian-inspired, must cost no more than $4.50 to make, and can be hot or cold. And, hopefully, the results of the contest won’t recall the spot of ugliness that ensued after Artisanal held a grilled-cheese-sandwich contest a couple of years ago and cast a momentary pall over the otherwise harmonious union between bread and dairy.
