Denver gypsy quartet DeVotchKa’s captivating Balkan folk fusion favors lurching accordion riffs over distorted guitars. They’re a bit too refined to really qualify as punk or rock, which is kind of a shame–they’re at their best when the guitars have a little juice and the vocals or trumpets take charge. No matter what, though, Gogol Bordello could probably eat them for lunch. With Mariachi El Bronx.
