ARatedOnly.com has announced its new website and smartphone app, each featuring a comprehensive guide to all the Department of Health “A”-rated restaurants in the city. All your favorites are there: the Wendy’s on Flatbush Avenue, Burrito Loco in Greenwich Village, and spots like Tribeca Grill and Smith & Wollensky.
The website is not yet complete, so you won’t be able to find the White Castle on East Fordham Road or Holiday Express Chicken Restaurant on Staten Island. But even when it is complete, this seems like a misguided effort. The DOH’s website is easy enough to navigate and, while an app could prove useful to those who insist on only the government-rated best, other apps that provide letter grades already exist — and they don’t exclude high-rated B’s. Here’s a potential added value: ARatedOnly.com has plans to add ratings for other cities using the letter-grading system nationwide. That’s a lot of damn fine Wendy’s at your fingertips.
