SEEDS OF CHANGE

by

At one recent show during Justin Vivian Bond‘s long run at Joe’s Pub, the venerable performance artist explained that in order to preserve sperm before beginning estrogen treatment, V (Bond’s preferred pronoun) donated some gorgeous, talented seed to a local sperm bank. We’ve been trying to find a polite way of asking Mx. Bond how we can get a hold of some of that stuff ever since. In the meantime, we’ll make do with letting V’s voice inside us at tonight’s concert for V’s first full-length solo album Dendrophile, a largely folk record featuring original tracks and some favorite covers, including a duet with Beth Orton on the Carpenters’ “Superstar,” and Bambi Lake’s “The Golden Age of Hustlers.” Doveman shares the bill.
