Threatening Email to Brooklyn Politician Not a Joke

State Police are looking into a pretty terrifying email to Assemblyman Willian Colton, a Democrat from Brooklyn, which came with the subject line “Time to Kill.” The New York Times City Room blog reports that the email came in early Friday morning and was full of ire for the new state budget and against the treatment of labor unions, but also against protesters of the budget, who the author felt failed to change anything. “At first I thought I might pull out a gun at my state office and kill a bunch of these dummies that I work with,” said the email, signed John Doe. “But I doubt that would provide me with the satisfaction I am looking for. Understand with whom you are dealing. I am not crazy. I am a terrorist. I stand for all of the people who don’t have a voice.” One has to wonder how often politicians receive similarly scary notes, but the Times notes that although “the message arrived on April 1, there was no indication that it was sent in jest.” Seconded: totally unfunny.
