What’s Happening This Week: Taste Brooklyn, FiDi; Meet a Pig Farmer

Tuesday, April 5, 6:30 p.m.

Sample dishes from the borough’s best restaurants and food purveyors, including Barrio Foods, Clover Club, Fornino, Loreley Williamsburg, Osteria il Paiolo, Purple Yam, Red Hook Lobster Pound, Robicelli’s, Tanoreen, Tchoup Shop, and Thistle Hill Tavern. Wash it all down with wines by Bouké and Brooklyn Oenology. Tickets are $45.

Swine Is Divine With Bernie “The Pig Farmer” Amlaw
Wednesday, April 6, 7 p.m.

Meet and eat with a bona fide pig farmer during this four-course tasting dinner for $85 per person, which includes wine pairings. The menu will feature, of course, no shortage of pork from Bernie Amlaw’s New Hampshire farm, where he raises mostly Landrace/Yorkshire pigs, milk-fed to boot.

EAT: World Financial Center Restaurant Showcase
World Financial Center Winter Garden and Plaza
Thursday, April 7, 11 a.m.

Close to 20 different restaurants from the area will showcase their goods at this tasting event, including Au Bon Pain, Ciao Bella Gelato, Financier Patisserie, and SouthWest NY. The event is also acting as a launch for Quality Burger, Ed’s Lobster Bar, and Harry’s BBQ, which will be setting up alfresco dining kiosks on the plaza that will remain open all summer. Admission to the event is free, and samples are $5 a pop.
