What to Drink at Lani Kai: The Pacific Swizzle

Each week in The Daily Shot, we have ourselves a drink that we think you should try, too.

The drink: Pacific Swizzle

The bar: Lani Kai (525 Broome Street, Soho, 646-596-8778)

The price: $13

The ingredients: White rum infused with rosehip, lemongrass, and hibiscus tea, lime juice, and passion fruit.

The buzz: When our underage intern checked out Lani Kai last year, she couldn’t exactly go inside, but she could stand outside gauging the reactions of those who stumbled out the door. The early word on the place was that the Pacific Swizzle “turned a lot of girls on.” Not sure if we were actually aroused by it, but it certainly got our attention. If you’re looking to go tropical, this drink will definitely get you there. Like sipping a liquid lei, it’s full of floral essences, with tons of (passion) fruit flavor, yet manages to remain tart instead of hammering you with sweet. Sip with caution, however, or this tall drink of swizzle will leave you hammered, after all.
