Every year around Passover, the inevitable articles about kosher wine start pouring in. Yawn. Instead, add some kick to your seder this year with Passover cocktails. A new website, The Sipping Seder, is making waves for its recipes for tipples created especially for the Chosen People, some of which can be made 100 percent kosher.
The Maror is made with the bitter herb of the same name, commonly represented on the seder plate by horseradish. Essentially a borscht martini, it incorporates vodka (potato vodka, for the kosher version), raw beet, and fresh horseradish. The Chazeret, named for the second bitter herb on the seder plate, for which romaine lettuce is usually used, is made with gin, Carpano Antica, Cynar, and fresh lemon juice. Use 209’s new kosher gin to keep things above board.
