The 34th annual Big Apple Grapple is the biggest event of the year for the New York Arm Wrestling Association, featuring international champions as well as amateurs. Of the all-day event, with more than 100 wrestlers participating in nine weight classes (seven for men, two for women), founder and president Gene Camp says, “It’s going to be an exciting contest of technique, brute strength and explosive raw energy with many rivalries and hard-fought matches.” The cash prizes benefit several charities, including Paralyzed Vets of America and Japan Relief Fund. All of this, plus the Pourhouse has more than 125 kinds of beers, and their boneless wings are fabulous.
