Think your brilliant snapshots could be even better? Get some inspiration this week at the fourth annual New York Photo Festival, the best event of the year for amateur shutterbugs as well as professionals. About 14,000 visitors are expected to attend this year’s festival, which is headquartered on the Brooklyn waterfront in DUMBO. Check out two main exhibitions on the theme “Documentary Photography Today”: Hope: Between Dream and Reality, curated by professional photojournalist Enrico Bossan, and Subjective/Objective, curated by Elisabeth Biondi, former visuals editor at The New Yorker. The festival features nearly 40 events in 11 venues. A highlight is Thursday’s slideshow Under the Bridge: Projections of a Revolution, which features 800 photos from the uprising in the Middle East and North Africa on four large screens under the archway of the Manhattan Bridge.
