Lady Gaga’s slightly confused ode to her Catholic upbringing “Judas” slipped a bit on the sales charts this week, falling from No. 4 to No. 6 with 158,000 downloads, but that trend might very well be reversed with next week’s sales tally, since the Lady has made those people who find out about new music from TV and not the Internet (there are a lot of them, you know!) aware of the track with her quickstep-filled performance of it on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Clip after the jump.
I actually had a conversation about Lady Gaga’s tumultous relationship with pants the other day, but her costume here–in which she sports them, as well as another hat that looks like a fried egg–would seem that she’s too busy working out her feelings about being forced to go to CCD as a kid to deal with that particular issue. I’m not kidding: She’s supposedly going to play Mary Magdalene in the “Judas” video, which premieres on next Thursday’s American Idol results show. Here’s hoping that the episode devotes a good chunk of its time to interviewing the audience for reactions–at the very least, the outrage and confusion will be way more interesting than Yet Another Duet Between Scotty And Lauren.
Also, the song gets better with each listen! Although I can’t help but wonder if some of the more conservative stations in this nation of ours are going to excise the “rap.” Oh, who am I kidding, they’ll probably mangle all the lyrics so they’re just about washing hair!
