American Farmland Trust has announced its third annual competition for America’s Favorite Farmers Markets. Starting June 1, you’ll have the opportunity to show your love for your local farmers’ market by voting at farmland.org/vote. In the meantime, farmers’ markets looking to participate can register online at farmland.org/marketmanager.
According to a press release sent out by American Farmland Trust, farmers’ markets may be gaining in popularity, but the country still loses “more than an acre of farmland every minute to development — most of it around cities where there is greatest demand for local food.” Yikes. Scarier than Donald Trump running for president? Not quite, but still pretty scary.
