Within the recent spate of ’80s reunions, these odd Liverpudlians are an interesting case: they’re post-punk without really being that. Ditto goth and (proto) emo. They’ve always been some kind of mish-mosh of all of the above, but their mopey nature doesn’t make for a snoozy show. They use atmospherics to their advantage to promote grand or grandiose vibes at the right times. Stoltz’s peppy, lovely power pop should make for an interesting contrast as opener.
