The most delectably named street festival in New York history is returning next month to the Lower East Side. Per Bowery Boogie, the Egg Rolls & Egg Creams Festival will take place on Sunday, June 12. The block party, which is organized by the Eldridge Street Synagogue and takes place at the foot of Eldridge Street, will feature music, mah-jongg, and language lessons — and, as advertised, a surfeit of egg rolls and egg creams. And unlike the versions currently favored by fine-dining enthusiasts, these egg creams are just seltzer, milk, and U-Bet syrup — the stuff of history, and of purists’ dreams.
