Thomas Keller’s new branch of Bouchon Bakery officially opens today at 1 Rockefeller Plaza (212-782-3890) and will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., ensuring that Midtowners will be able to get their fix of cookies, cakes, pastries, soups, and salads all day long.
This marks the second location for Bouchon Bakery, the original based in the Time Warner Center, along with Keller’s Per Se. Sebastien Rouxel, a pastry chef formerly at the French Laundry and Per Se, will be heading up the team making the sweets.
So what should you order? Over at Today, Keller lists his five favorite treats from Bouchon Bakery, including the chocolate chunk cookie and the nutter butter cookie (which has gotten the Fat Pants Friday treatment previously); the TKO, a/k/a Bouchon’s version of the Oreo cookie; the classic macaron cookie (pictured above); the peanut butter cups; and the pain au chocolat. Fork in the Road is also a fan of the butternut squash sandwich for lunch. Or just go ahead and stuff your face with macarons for lunch — you know you want to.
