Back in July of 2009, we announced the sad closing of West Village Portuguese mainstay Alfama. This morning, a publicist for the restaurant emailed to announce that it would triumphantly return next week.
Diner’s Journal has the details on the reopening. Owners Tarcisio Costa and Miguel Jerónimo, who were forced to close due to a severe rent increase, are relocating to a cheaper, larger space in Midtown East. The chef, Francisco Rosa, has updated his menu to include trendier items like grilled razor clams, rabbit meatballs, and pork trotters, and will reprise others like the signature natas (Portuguese custard tarts). The plan is to sell those babies at retail outlets.
