The Hidden Fortress

by

Dir. Akira Kurosawa (1958).
Kurosawa’s most elaborate sword film between The Seven Samurai and Kagemusha enjoys a semi-underground reputation inspiring the original Star Wars. As the first Japanese film to use a Cinemascope-type format, it’s also one of Kurosawa’s graphically strongest works, reveling in spectacular wasted landscapes as well as choreographed action.

Fridays-Sundays, 11 a.m. Starts: May 27. Continues through May 29, 2011
