July is shaping up to be an auspicious month for those who like their meat charred and consumed out of doors: Not only will Meatopia lower its fat haunches onto Brooklyn Bridge Park on July 23, but Cook Out NYC will take over Governors Island two weeks prior.
Jimmy Carbone, one of the organizers of both Cook Out and last year’s Meatopia, writes in with some details of the event, which will take place on July 10. Since it will coincide with July’s Good Beer Month, it will feature beer from numerous NYC breweries alongside its roster of chefs and pit-masters.
Meat-wise, expect victuals from Dickson’s Farmstand Meats, barbecue made from Heritage Food USA’s menagerie and cooked by the likes of Grillin’ on the Bay and Mr. Bobo’s Traveling BBQ All-Stars, and a burger cook-off from the folks at Fleisher’s Meats. There will also be a lot of kimchi in the form of Kimchipalooza, which will be hosted by Cathy Erway and Mama O’s Kimchi. Also, there will be bluegrass.
Tickets can be found here, but you’ll have to look elsewhere for the antacids.
