Since both musicians employ the kind of nuance that can hush a room, their very occasional duets are to be savored. Guitarist Hall speaks in a whisper, making audiences lean forward a bit to absorb the beauty of each solo. Bassist Carter is an interplay maven, expertly threading ideas through the action at hand. Alone together, they’re a mini orchestra, revealing secret after secret. No wonder that ’70s disc is considered ultra-classic.
