In 1992, it was considered the relationship that would wreck modern civilization, but it didn’t — and as a testament to its own value, they’re still together!
For nearly 20 years, we’ve heard all the “Yuck! How could he?” arguments from the morality police, but that kind of self-important whistle-blowing usually grows as tiresome as some marriages do.
Instead, let’s play devil’s advocate for a second and try to defend it, using hindsight and some calm logic, finally allowing perspective to shed light on a situation that hardly seems as barbaric as it once did.
First off, Woody‘s not really her father. Soon-Yi is the adopted daughter of Mia Farrow and André Previn, OK?
Secondly, maybe he was sick of Mia at that point. And vice versa. Maybe there were troubles in the relationship.
And like I said, they’re still together! They’ve outlasted about 10,000 other Hollywood couples.
Shouldn’t that count for something?
Shouldn’t the whole world be willing to finally admit they were wrong, and now bow down before these two and say, “Sorry, kids. Mazel tov”?
This coupling might seem like the world’s most extreme example of “love the one you’re with,” but shouldn’t its success give it some validity?
