Bill Warren Will Dive for Osama Bin Laden’s Body, Just to Make Sure It’s Really There

A famed shipwreck explorer, Bill Warren, has plans to comb the bottom of the Arabian Sea in search of Osama Bin Laden’s corpse. The exploration could run him $1 million, but for some reason he thinks he can still collect the government reward. “There is still a $25 million reward that no one has collected, and the reward says dead or alive, well, if — in fact — he is dead, then I could collect the $25 million reward. Why not?” Well, because the White House said no one is getting the money. But Warren has other motives as well. “I want to prove, one way or the other that he is, in fact, dead,” he told ABC News. Oh, brother.

Warren has been hunting “sunken treasure” for three decades, and counts “150 wrecks” and “loot that totals several million dollars” among his spoils.

“It is the most exciting and maybe dangerous project,” Warren said of his Bin Laden hunt. “If we are successful and find him with sonar and recover him with a remote-operated vehicle, we’ll recover the body in the bag and take photographs, video, and a DNA test — maybe of his hair or his beard.”

He told the New York Post, “I’m doing it because I am a patriotic American who wants to know the truth. I do it for the world.” And the reason for his skepticism? Overseas gossip.

“The Obama administration should have released the photo, like we did with Billy the Kid, or [John] Dillinger, or even Saddam Hussein,” said Warren. “I have a Russian girlfriend, and she tells me that over there, in intelligence circles, they don’t believe bin Laden’s really dead.”

There’s an old adage about not holding your breath, but here it’s too fitting.
