Sometimes you can feel a forward leap in an artist’s work, and this young pianist does some hop/skip/jump action on Bond: The Paris Sessions. Advances in his own playing are obvious; the balance between clarion phraseology and cagey innuendo has been tweaked in favor of the latter. His team has made strides, too. On “Snake Bite,” the rhythm section feels like it’s going in three different ways at once. Not bad for two guys. This band dedicates itself to perpetual motion.
