Although Roberta’s is a ways off from expanding to Manhattan, another North Brooklyn restaurant has put down roots in Midtown. Following the closure of its Havemeyer Street location, Shachi’s Arepas opened Shachi’s Arepas To Go on West 35th Street a few weeks ago. In a review posted earlier today, Midtown Lunch praised the “incredibly moist” beef in the restaurant’s Pabellon arepa, but deemed its chicken empanada a “disappointment” and the portions a bit skimpy. Still, Williamsburg’s loss is Manhattan’s gain — and if Roberta’s expansion is as “inevitable” as its rep claims it is, then the borough stands to gain quite a bit more, too.
