Employees Only Is Now the World’s Best Bar

The annual cocktail fest that is Tales of the Cocktail took place in New Orleans last week, culminating in Saturday night’s Spirited Awards gala. New York bars and bartenders, as usual, were well represented among winners at the awards dinner. This year, it was Employees Only‘s turn to take the World’s Best Bar title; Kenta Goto of Pegu Club and Sam Ross of Milk & Honey won Best American Bartender. (Neither of them is American, but their bars, of course, are.)

Other New Yorkers honored this year included Pegu’s Audrey Saunders as Best Bar Mentor and Eleven Madison Park for Best Restaurant Bar. Employees Only also picked up the World’s Best Drinks Selection award, but was somehow omitted from World’s Best Cocktail Menu category, which went to the Artesian Bar at the Langham in London.
