Despite reports of a “hostage situation” near the Flatiron Building, the New York Police Department’s office of the Deputy Commissioner, Public Information, says that it is not in fact a hostage situation, but police are “responding to a report of a man with a gun” at 12 East 22nd Street.There are no injuries reported as of yet. Police say the man is now in custody and there were no injuries. The department could not confirm reports that the situation involved a man holding his wife hostage.
Update, 4:20 p.m.:
WNYC has more information on the story. According to their report, the man had threatened window workers and barricaded himself in the apartment.

As reported, the incident was not actually in the Flatiron Building.
