Well, sort of.
Over on East 1st Street, down the block from Prune and JoeDoe, the Guggenheim and BMW have turned an empty lot into the BWM Guggenheim Lab, which they’re billing as a “mobile urban laboratory” that “will address issues of contemporary urban life through programs and public discourse.” Fancy!
The lab is having its grand-opening party on Wednesday, and that’s where Roberta’s comes in: To celebrate its new home in Lower Manhattan, the Gugg is importing the Brooklyn pizzeria to cater to its celebrants. This news comes courtesy of EV Grieve, who has posted snaps of the Roberta’s chalkboard menu propped up against a plywood shed.
From the looks of it, everyone will be eating eggplant sandwiches, avocado cucumber salad, and cheeseburgers. Maybe this is what they meant when they said that Roberta’s would get to Manhattan “soon enough“?
