Atlanta’s Deerhunter have been making the international festival rounds this summer, playing Pitchfork in Chicago, Bonnaroo in Tennessee, and Primavera Sound in Barcelona. This weekend they hit New York (fresh from Japan’s Summer Sonic) for two of their final gigs in support of last year’s Halcyon Digest, on which frontman Bradford Cox came closer than he ever has to realizing his lifelong dream of making a Breeders album. Eleanor Friedberger of the Fiery Furnaces opens both nights; her breezy new solo disc, Last Summer, suggests that her lifelong dream was to make a Laura Nyro record.
