Skittishness is central to the guitarist’s attack, and he delivers its unpredictability in a fetching way. It often feels like his sense of forward motion uses trad swing to calm a more feverish impulse—a best of both worlds deal. His frontline foil here is Mat Maneri, a violinist whose sense of calm can be bewitching.
